In 2013 the first annual Rock The Ridge event was inaugurated -- a 50 mile trek through the dramatic landscape of the Shawangunk Ridge, 90 miles north of New York City, affectionately referred to as the 'Gunks. The event attracted more than 200 participants and raised over $100,000 towards the protection of the natural beauty of the area.
